Choosing your cat
Choosing A Healthy Cat
Before you make your choice, be sure that the cat is healthy-
looking and playful.
A listless cat may have existing health problems that are causing its inactivity. Never buy a kitten or cat with a runny nose or eyes, or one with obvious health problems. Check the litter box for signs of diarrhea or bloody urine.
Feel your kitten's ribs. You should be able to feel the ribs of a healthy kitten or cat, but they should not be visible. If its ribs are showing or the cat appears

shrunken, the animal is underweight. When you run your fingers over its sides, if you cannot feel the ribs, the cat is overweight. Both conditions are cause for concern, suggesting more advanced health problems looming in the future. Look for fleas or sores (caused by biting or scratching at fleas) by spreading the cat's coat down to the skin, especially around the base of the tail and the neck. Cats or kittens with fleas may have other parasites as well.
If your kitten is not taking any interest in its surroundings, be cautious. When not asleep or nursing, kittens should be actively playing, exploring, and running around as much as they can. Watch the kittens at play, making sure to choose one that walks and runs without interference. Also, a kitten that is younger than 8 weeks of age is not old enough to be separated from its mother.
As soon as possible after adoption, take your kitten or cat to a veterinarian for a well-kitten exam.

Enviroment
Its enviroment is your house, obviously. Make sure you have lots of toye for your cat spread around the house or in a basket if you want to decide when your cat plays. I don't know where to put this, so i'll put it here. Every month or so, clip your cats claws, assuming that your cat isn't declawed. Also have a brush to groom your cats hair, unless your cat is a REALLY good groomer.

Food
First, make sure there is a bowl of water for your cat. Basically, have a bowl for dry food, and a bowl for wet food. I use Science Diet for my cat's food, but other wet food works fine, choose anything your cat will eat. It may be hard to get your cat to eat at first, so be patient. Friskies is not as healthy as science diet, but EVERY cat i have had has LOVED friskies, so it is also a good name for food.
